Berla Mundi is a multiple award-winning African Broadcast Journalist who has taken over the media landscape with her endearing personality and witty nature. She currently holds the title as Ghana’s Most Influential Young Media Personality, and Most Influential Young Female in 2019, and this comes after being honored as one of four leading media women in Ghana in 2019, and successfully moderating Columbia University’s 16th Annual Africa Economic Forum in the USA in 2019 where she interacted with CEOs from some of the world’s largest technology companies, IBM, Microsoft, and Chevron, on ‘The role of technology in developing a sustainable African economy’.
The vibrant Media Personality is fast becoming a global brand, having hosted a session at the January 2020 Ghana Investment and Business Summit, held in London and attended by the President of Ghana along with top government officials and global business experts, where she interacted with the Ghana Tourism CEO on the country’s attempt to expand the tourism industry, as well as the 2019 EU-GH Business Forum which focused on job creation for Ghana’s youth and a strengthened partnership between European and Ghanaian businesses. The forum was attended by dignitaries from the European Union and some government officials including the EU Ambassador to Ghana, Diana Acconcia, and Minister for Trade and Industry, Alan Kyeremanteng.
Berla Mundi has firmly positioned herself as a youth leader, developing interests in female empowerment, youth advocacy, and sustainable development projects across the continent. She currently runs ‘B.YOU BY BERLA MUNDI’ a mentorship and career guidance program for young girls in Ghana and has secured internship opportunities, scholarships, and media training for young girls. She also partnered the University of Central Oklahoma for their ‘Education in USA’ forum in Ghana that garnered hundreds of attendees, as well as MZUZAH Africa’s sustainable development educational summits in Accra and the USA.
Her interest in operating her own youth advocacy program began after she launched and spearheaded ‘The Live Girl Code Project’ a campus event for young women, under Live 91.9fm (where she worked as the host of the after-drive). The campus tour catered to over a thousand tertiary students through workshops and training sessions with highly revered Ghanaian entrepreneurs, fast becoming the benchmark for other youth empowerment programs in the country.
She’s achieved enviable success in the media field, hosting Ghana’s biggest and most listened to award-winning shows, The Drive Time’ on Starr 103.5fm and ‘The Late Afternoon Show’ on GHOne TV, addressing social issues pertaining to young adults and offering them a platform to share their stories to inspire, educate, inform and entertain others. The Late Afternoon Show won the ‘The TV Show of the Year 2018’ in less than a year, while she picked up the ‘2018 Female TV Entertainment Host’ at the Radio and Television Personality Awards.
After 8 years as a lead presenter at GHONE TV, Berla Mundi has taken on a bigger role as host of Ghana’s biggest TV Morning Show, The New Day at Media General, where she now serves as anchor. She is set to launch a new TV Talk Show, ‘The Day Show’, set to begin airing in March 2020.
Berla Mundi served as the Ghanaian co-host for Africa's first-ever syndicated talk show, ‘Moments with Mo’ on DSTV for two (2) years and has conducted compelling interviews with top personalities across the continent including government officials and politicians, seasoned entrepreneurs across the continent, CEOs from various industries including IBM, Chevron, Microsoft and Genevieve Magazine Nigeria, some African entertainment personalities, and more.
She's worked on some major platforms including the Columbia University African Economic Forum, USA, European Union –Ghana Business Summit, Ghana UK Based Achievement Awards, UK, AFRIMA Business Summit, MZUZAH Africa Educational Forums, USAID Women’s Month 2016, Ghana Music Awards, Exclusive Men of The Year Awards Africa, MTN Hitmaker, Malta Guinness Maltavator Challenge Africa (Nigeria, Ghana, Ethiopia, La Cote D’Ivoire), and Miss Malaika Ghana.
With over 2 million followers across the continent, the Media Personality’s sole objective is to become a leading Global Media brand, catering to both the young and old, breaking barriers and using her experiences to project African stories, traditions, and values.
She has worked with some Global brands including Woodin, Vlisco, Fan Milk Limited, Nestle, MTN, IPMC, Malta Guinness Ghana, Loncha Kitchens Ghana, and is currently the face of Lucozade Ghana and Absa Bank Ghana.
